1 Meet the New Basketball Strength & Conditioning Coach

Nothing but net!  Basketball players are here and ready to shoot into total slam dunk action. Since last school year, there have been a lot of changes surrounding the basketball team including new players and a new strength and conditioning coach. Tryouts are just around the corner and Mr. Brian Garcia, who is new to PPCHS this school year as a U.S. History teacher, is the new strength and conditioning basketball coach.  He is ready to get these players into tip-top shape.

Mr. Garcia has always been a fan of the game of basketball whether coaching, watching from the stands, or even playing against professionals including Joakim Noah and Al Horford. This year, however, his main focus is to get the basketball players in the best shape possible for their games. His primary goal is to increase their strength, speed, stamina, and be more explosive on the court. Mr. Garcia has a planned a powerful workout for the players. On Mondays and Wednesdays, players practice in the gym and run on the track to acquire speed and build endurance. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, players go into the weight room to build up their total body strength. Mr. Garcia is a hard working coach. “If players want they can train on their own, but the main focus outside of my workouts is strictly basketball,” he shared.  Mr. Garcia expects a dynamic performance from the basketball players and is excited to start a brand new season of Jags Basketball with a well-trained and powerful team.

Good luck to our basketball team this year! Go Jags!
