After finishing with a 2-1 record in their annual spring break baseball tournament, the PPCHS varsity baseball team was set for a primetime matchup against Chicago Christian. The varsity team has mowed down its opponents as of late, including a 5-1 victory over a team from Alabama up in Clearwater over the break.

Senior Danny Melgarejo started on the mound as he went six strong innings allowing no earned runs. Melgarejo has been one the great leaders for the Jaguars, consistently performing to the best of his ability. Junior first baseman Danny Rodriguez hit yet another homerun, totaling to seven on the year. Rodriguez currently has one of the most RBI’s in all of Broward County.

With outstanding defense once again, the Jags had Melgarejo’s back the whole game. Senior Derick Garcia and junior Anthony Nogueiras powered the lineup collecting several RBI’s. The Jags finished off the visiting Chicago team with a 12-2 victory to improve to an outstanding 12-3 record overall. They will now face the Coral Springs Colts tonight at 6:30 pm for their second home game of the week. Good luck Jags!
