8th Grade Faculty

  1. Jennifer Carson

    Language Arts & Debate
    Jennifer Carson has been teaching since 2004 and is one of the founding faculty members of the Academic Village Middle School.  Mrs. Carson began her teaching career in Canada as a high school Social Studies and English teacher focused on the at-risk population. Currently, Mrs. Carson is the 8th grade Cambridge English teacher.  She also teaches the Debate program, including the 6th grade elective wheel.  Mrs. Carson lives to travel to places like Tanzania, Ireland, and Hawaii while reading anything she can get her hands on.  Mrs. Carson has a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature and History, along with a Professional Degree in Education from the University of Ottawa.


  2. Lisa Coolidge

    Math
    Lisa Coolidge has been teaching since 2005 and is one of the founding faculty members of the Academic Village Middle School.  Mrs. Coolidge began her teaching career as a Math teacher at our charter high school.  Before teaching, Mrs. Coolidge worked in accounting for Carnival Cruise Line. Currently, Mrs. Coolidge is the Pre-Algebra, Algebra, and Geometry teacher. Mrs. Coolidge enjoys hiking and spending time with her family at her second home in North Carolina.  She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems from Florida Atlantic University and Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Texas.

  3. Jeana Diaz

    Language Arts & Reading
    Jeana Diaz has been teaching since 2004 and began her journey at the Academic Village Middle School in Fall 2015.  Mrs. Diaz began her teaching career as an elementary school teacher in Miami-Dade County. Currently, Ms. Diaz is a Reading and 7th/8th grade English Teacher.  Besides enjoying her experience at charter, Mrs. Diaz loves to spend time with her husband and two girls. Mrs. Diaz holds a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and Master's Degree in Reading from Barry University.


  4. Alexandria Ford

    Science
    Alexandria Ford has been teaching since 2011 and began her journey at the Academic Village Middle School in Spring 2014.  Ms. Ford began her teaching career as a Preschool Teacher and has had prior experience has a Reading Specialist at the elementary level. Currently, Ms. Ford is the 8th grade Science teacher.  She is a certified scuba diver and loves to athletically train our middle school athletes.  Ms. Ford holds a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Nova Southeastern University.  In addition, she holds a Master's Degree in Education from Southern Connecticut State University.

  5. Gustavo Gil

    Social Studies
    Gustavo Gil has been teaching since 2006 and began his journey at the Academic Village Middle School in Fall 2015.  Mr. Gil began his career teaching Social Studies in Miami-Dade County Schools.  Mr. Gil currently teaches 8th grade US History and the 6th grade Research class.  He enjoys mountain biking and traveling with his wife and two children.  Mr. Gil holds a Bachelor's Degree in Social Studies Education from Florida International University.

  6. Keisha Gray

    Math
    Keisha Gray has been teaching since 2004 and is one of the founding faculty members of the Academic Village Middle School.  Ms. Gray began her teaching career as a middle school integrated subjects teacher in Virginia and Miami-Dade County, Florida.  Currently, Ms. Gray is the 7th grade math and Pre-Algebra teacher.  Her passionate personality to educate students is dominant throughout our hallways.  Ms. Gray holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from the University of Florida and is working on pre-requisites for her medical degree.


  7. Giselle Urizarri

    Language Arts & Yearbook
    Giselle Urizarri has been teaching since 2004 and began her career teaching elementary students in Broward County. Currently, Mrs. Urizarri is the 7th grade English teacher. She is also the Yearbook Sponsor, working diligently with her students throughout the year to ensure our school memories are preserved. Mrs. Urizarri's biggest accomplishment is being a mom to her two children, Mia & Max.  Mrs. Urizarri holds a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and Master's in Reading from Barry University.


  8. Jackie Mandel

    Language Arts & Reading
    Jackie Mandel has been teaching LA/Reading for over 15 years in South Florida and started her journey with Charter in 2017.  Besides teaching, Ms. Mandel loves reading  and traveling. She's been all over the world and has seen some amazing sites. (Ask her about visiting the Mustard Museum in Wisconsin). Ms. Mandel holds a Bachelors Degree from Florida Atlantic University and a Master's Degree from Nova Southeastern University. She will currently be teaching 7th an 8th grade Language Arts.
